Our History

Our founder, William Kurz, was part of the team that started the first hydroelectric plant in the United States in 1882. Located in Appleton, Wisconsin, the plant powered two paper mills and a residence, the Hearthstone. Among many other contributions to the electrical era, he initiated the fan idea in motors and generators to keep them cool.

In 1918, William Kurz started what is now Kurz Industrial Solutions and since then, like our pioneering founder, Kurz has prided itself in being a technological leader; providing the best solutions in the most efficient manner possible for our customers.

We are the go-to people in the Midwest who always make it right, offering exceptional comprehensive solutions including distribution, rotating apparatus repair, reliability services, and new equipment sales. We strive relentlessly to achieve continuous improvement in total customer satisfaction and it is our mission to be the undisputed leader in the drive industry of the Upper Midwest and a true benchmark for overall outstanding business performance and customer service.

Our most recent development is an acquisition of Green Bay-based Rasmussen Electric and its Power and Control division in January of 2020. Read more about our recent acquisition here.
